Representing Christ at Christmas

We are now in the Holiday season and there is usually much discussion about whether we should say “Happy Holidays” or “Merry Christmas” when greeting another person.  The concern is that we are leaving out Christ (the reason for celebrating Christmas) when we greet someone with “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas.”
Is this greeting what the true meaning of Christmas is all about?  We can say “Merry Christmas” to our neighbor and never bother to see if they have food or are warm.  In this case, the greeting is not coming from the heart.  If we really want to show Christ, we could do so many things for people that would not take much effort but could really cheer someone up.  How about helping someone take their groceries to the car or return the shopping cart to the stall for them;  pay for a meal of someone who seems to be hurting; pay for a meal for a public servant such as a fireman or policeman; a cheery smile and hello can speak volumes to some people. I read of a man that puts money in a greeting card and will give the card to someone at random.  He said doing this is the gift he receives.  Now isn’t doing “little blessings” for people the way to really show Christ.
May God’s Blessings be with during this Christmas season!

Pray for our Country.

With candidates already gearing up for the election in 2012, I am already dreading the rhetoric on the internet and the derogatory emails that bombard us.  Even after the election, this does not stop.
Instead of ranting and raving about our elected officials, why can’t we pray for God to touch and convict each one of their ways if they are not pleasing to Him.  We need to pray daily for all the leaders from national all the way down to local.  Our emails with ranting and raving do not do any good at all and only stirs up hatred which can’t get us anywhere and can’t be pleasing to God.
We have so much to be thankful for in this nation.  Why don’t we start by recognizing that and showing our thanks and also be kind to our fellow man.  Why can’t we forget about parties, race, and anything else that is causing bitterness and start praying for the leaders daily.
Our Mighty God can turn this country around if people will pray.
He says in Chronicles 7:14 “if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”  Isn’t this the very best stand we can take for our nation?
